The start of a new school year provides the opportunity for a fresh start! This is your chance to set new goals, discover new interests, and push yourself to new heights.
With your feedback, we've been hard at work over the last year revamping the Vita app, with a suite of new features, design changes, and an optimized workflow so you can get the most out of your learning experience.
With the new school year fast approaching, we are excited to release V2, the latest and greatest major version of Vita.
Notes
Notes are a core building block of Vita. Vita allows you to upload existing notes and course materials, type your own Notes from scratch, and use them to generate tailored study content, like Gists, Flashcards, and Quizzes.
Need help getting started with a new topic? Notes themselves can now be generated from an external website or user prompt; simply paste the website URL or provide a short prompt to scaffold out the initial structure of your Note.
With the ability to generate notes from a simple URL or prompt, you can now jumpstart your studies faster than ever, ensuring you have more time to focus on mastering the content.
We've also added a standalone screen for note-taking, free of any clutter and distractions, so you can focus entirely on capturing key information.
Gists
You can create Gists (document summaries) to summarize large bodies of text, including your course materials, web pages, and your Notes. Gists are generated by analyzing the most important information in the document and filtering out everything except the key points of the document, so you can quickly understand what the gist (hence the name) is.
Gists can also be viewed alongside their source document, so you can compare the summary generated by Vita against the original source.
Gists are your perfect companion for quick revisions before exams, allowing you to focus on what truly matters without getting lost in details.
Flashcards
Flashcards are a popular study tool used to help people memorize information through effective study techniques, such as active recall and spaced repetition. This tool is often used by students and learners in knowledge-heavy degrees, such as medical sciences, biology, law, psychology, nursing, and more.
We've enhanced the Flashcards feature in Vita, offering three different study modes. These modes are designed to align with different stages of your learning journey, ensuring you’re well-prepared from the first review to the final exam.
Learn Mode
Learn Mode offers a simple method to familiarize yourself with the Flashcard Set. You can use Learn Mode to study the Flashcards without having to be graded or provide feedback on your recall of the terms and definitions. Once you are ready to quantify your learning, you can proceed to the next study modes.
Practice Mode
Once you've done your initial run-through of the Flashcards set in Learn Mode, Practice Mode allows you to leverage spaced repetition and active recall. Each session in Practice Mode sorts the Flashcards based on your responses from the previous session, prioritizing the ones you need to practice most.
Test Mode
Test Mode is the final step before your real exam! Run through the Flashcards set one last time, and grade yourself to see how well you know your terms and definitions. Test Mode will display your grade at the end of the session, and you can retry as many times as you'd like until you're happy with your results.
Quizzes
Practice quizzes are one of the new features we are probably most excited about.
Similar to Gists and Flashcards, Quizzes can be automatically generated from a variety of sources, including your course materials, external websites, Notes, and Gists.
In anticipation of the Fall 2024 Semester, we are releasing the Quizzes feature with the ability to generate multiple choice, multiple answers, and true/false questions. Stay tuned for even more question formats in the near future, including Fill-in-the-Blanks, Short Answers, Numerical, Matching, and Ordering questions, as we continue to expand our quiz offerings to provide you with the most comprehensive study toolset.
AI Chat Assistant
It is often beneficial to learn alongside a peer or be guided by a tutor when learning something new for the first time. However, that opportunity might not be available on every occasion.
With this release, we're launching a new AI Chat Assistant right in the app to guide you alongside your learning. Whether it be getting an overview of a new topic, or prompts when practicing a quiz, our AI Chat Assistant has got you covered for your studies!
PS. We're still coming up with a cutesie name for the AI Assistant, so drop us a message if you have any good ideas!
Greater Support for Source Materials
We know that there are many ways to learn, which means digitally, there are many ways to store information. That is we're offering greater support for uploading source material to generate study content from, including the following file types:
- .doc(x),
- .pdf,
- .ppt(x),
- .wav,
- .mp3/mp4,
- .ogg,
- .flv,
- .rtf,
- .txt,
as well as website links, and more!
No matter how you store your learning materials, Vita’s enhanced support ensures that all your content is just a click away, making it easier than ever to create customized study materials in one unified platform.
